About Book launch: Dancing in Heaven - women's voices from the HIV/AIDS pandemic - The Shakespeare Gallery and Studios

The first case of AIDS in the UK was reported in 1981. By the end of the decade, hundreds were dead: mostly young, mostly gay, mostly men. Mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, lovers and professionals cared, cleaned, cooked, coped, cried and campaigned.

Suzanne Elvidge's new book Dancing in Heaven celebrates these women’s stories of grief, anger and love. Come along to meet the author and hear the monologues.

This will be a warm, welcoming, and inclusive space for Scarborough’s LGBTQ+ community, friends and allies.
