About Julie Noble - Writing Workshop - Rusty Shears

Whitby has been inspiring writers for centuries. From Caedmon to Atkinson, Gaskell to Brody, Julie’s aim is to introduce you to a variety of writing about Whitby and how and why this place captures the heart of so many writers.

In the first part of this workshop session, she will read some book extracts, then you can decide: classic or contemporary? Can you identify the authors? It will be an opportunity to explore the rich pickings for stories on offer through historic and modern times. In the second part it will be your turn to do some creative writing of your own, with optional sharing.

Julie Noble is a Whitby writer of various genres. In 2019 her memoir piece was published in Kit de Waal’s critically acclaimed Common People; Julie has won a Northern Writers Award; Arvon Gold Dust and the Moniack Mhor Two Roads Award.
