About Christmas Wreath Making Workshop - Markenfield Hall

The history of the wreath at Christmas is evocative, evolving from traditions of using evergreen branches popularised by German Lutherans and Advent wreaths in the 16th century. These early wreaths , featuring candles and evergreens , represented eternal life and the coming of Christ. Gradually as the practice spread and became more secular , decorative welcome wreaths popularised by the Victorians were used as a symbol of hospitality and the enduring spirit of Winter.

It seems appropriate that a home with Markenfield's unique heritage should throw open the doors and welcome people into its magical setting to create their own unique wreaths. All materials are supplied although you are welcome to bring your own if you have a colour scheme in mind.
Tea , coffee and Markenfield's special cake with be on regular supply during the morning and you can celebrate your achievements with a glass pr prosecco and a photograph of your wreath in front of the fireplace in the Great Hall.
