Responses To Nature - Fiona Mazza, Liz Harvey, Gill Kirk - The Station

Two painters and one ceramicist join forces to show you their response to the natural world

The three artists in this exhibition are inspired by nature. Liz draws inspiration from woodlands, landscapes and gardens around her rural studio, Gill loves the use of colour and texture of flora and fauna giving her work a vivid joyful feel and Fiona’s ceramics are imaginatively inspired by butterfly forms and depicting man’s impact on the natural world.

Gill, Fiona and Liz work in different media, yet their work is connected through a love of nature and their environment, and the challenge of how they can create original, unique pieces that represent the beauty they see around them.

It is exciting to see how each of these highly accomplished artists uses their chosen media to represent their artistic vision. Gill uses acrylics, mixed media and printmaking techniques to convey her joyful energy and nature's abundance, Liz is an oil painter who also uses mixed media approaches to explore the light and layers of nature and landscape and Fiona is a ceramicist creating highly refined sculptural pieces, often using butterfly motifs, with striking effects.

Each of the artists is concerned with design, composition and balance in their interpretations and it is exciting to see how each achieves this in their work.
