About Through a Lynchian Lens: John Higgs - Hetty And Betty

Writer, novelist, journalist, and cultural historian, John Higgs has written on subjects that shape our cultural landscape, from The Beatles, to William Blake and Doctor Who.

In Lynchian, he explores the appeal of the enigmatic genius David Lynch and what that appeal says about who we are. Much like the loss of David Bowie, Lynch’s death produced an extraordinary outpouring of love and grief.

So why does his work affect people so deeply? Why do some find it haunting and unforgettable while others dismiss it as meaningless? Answering that question takes us into the strange realms of psychology, art, and theology. Lynchian unpacks the mystery but refuses to solve the enigma.

Interviewing Higgs is freelance journalist and writer David Barnett, author of the folk horror novels Withered Hill and Scuttler’s Cove, and also a comic book writer for DC, 2000AD and others.
