Meet your guide at 10.30am inside the West Door of Selby Abbey to explore the history of the first monastery to be established in the North of England after the arrival of William the Conqueror in 1066. Wonder at the amazing Romanesque and Gothic architecture and hear how, despite two great fires, the collapse of the central tower and the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th Century, Selby Abbey has survived as a vibrant place of pilgrimage, events, prayer and worship.
