About Gigs at Gaia: Orchestra For The Earth

Conductor John WarnerSolo violin Lana TrotovsekOrchestra for the Earth was established in England in 2018 with the mission of promoting the importance of caring for and protecting our planet. John Warner, the founder and current artistic director, is an emerging talent in the world of conducting. He serves as the Conductor in Residence with Oxford Opera and has conducted some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic. The orchestra’s repertoire often reflects themes of nature and the environment. The concert, titled Earth, Sea and Sky, will open fittingly with Grieg’s ‘Morning Mood’ from Peer Gynt which captures nature’s quiet awakening, whilst ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ will capture the mystery and drama of nature through its gradually intensifying rhythm. Vaughan Williams’ beloved The Lark Ascending offers a moment of stillness and evokes a sense of serenity celebrating the beauty of the English countryside. This is a musical journey through light, shadow, and open sky-an evening to stir the senses and reconnect with the natural world through sound. The concert will last c.2 hours including a 20 minute interval.
