Line and Wash Workshop with John Harrison - Just Makers

Join Yorkshire-based artist, John Harrison of Drawn in Yorkshire, for a relaxed and inspiring workshop exploring the expressive technique of line and wash sketching.

The day begins with an introduction to John’s distinctive style, combining ink drawing with fluid watercolour washes.

Weather permitting, you’ll head outdoors to sketch from life and capture reference photos of your chosen scenes. Back in the studio, John will guide you through warm-up exercises using ink and loose, wet-in-wet washes, followed by a quick demonstration to inspire your own work.

After a break for lunch, you’ll begin work on a full-sized painting using your sketches and references from the morning.

Throughout the day, John will be on hand to offer friendly guidance, practical tips and personal feedback in his signature informal and encouraging style.
