New compositions stand side by side with traditional material from Bingsj and Orsa in the county of Dalarna. Fiddles and re-tuned violas; voices with strongly personal expressions.Emma Reid, a star in the new generation of fiddlers, has roots in both the English and Swedish tradition and is now one of Swedens most sought-after musicians. With a powerful self-expression and experience from several genres, Emma has developed a deeply personal playing style.Ellika Frisell is a stubbornly curious, established veteran on the Swedish folk and world music scene. She has received much acclaim for her life work to further develop the living heritage from her teachers and, in 2021, was awarded the prestigious Folk Music Prize from the Swedish Royal Music Academy for her contributions to Swedish folk music. Jon Holmn grew up with the music of his home village of Boda and began playing fiddle at an early age. As a musician Jon enjoys all settings where the music becomes a way to express, communicate and socialize - from the stage to the living-room. He is highly regarded as a fiddler in the traditional music of Dalarna and is a sought-after teacher.Sven Ahlbck comes from northern Uppland in Sweden. He started playing the fiddle at a young age, learning from the legendary fiddler Anton Jernberg, who taught Sven a rich tradition of tunes from Gstrikland, which still is the core of Svens repertoire. Its old-fashioned music, full of quarter tones and shake strokes tunes as crooked as forest paths. He has been teaching with Ami Dregelid for twenty years, sharing with her a common fascination for the swinging qualities of the polska and the interaction between music and dance. Sven is regarded as one of Swedens leading fiddlers and, on artistic merits, Swedens first folk music professor. Ami Dregelid is known both as a dancer and a teacher and is an important role-model in todays folk dance scene. She has more than 30 years experience in folk dance education and her dancing and teaching have been very influential in the folk dance community, besides making a practical contribution to the development of folk dance. For Ami, the interaction between the music and the dancers is central and she has over many years developed methods to communicate this when she teaches. Andrew Parr trained as a dancer in Sweden and is also a talented musician. His teaching is both thorough and inspiring and he is currently involved in running Swedish dance workshops all over England.
