About “May I Paint Your Pot?”: When Objects Become Subjects - Potters and Painters

A collaborative exhibition of ceramics and the artworks inspired by themThis exhibition is a positioning of object and subject together; “the pot and the painting”, through a display of ceramics and the artworks they have inspired. On display are examples of a wide range of ways in which clay is transformed in the hands of the ceramicists. But not stopping with the three-dimensional, the exhibition moves to the two-dimensional with the equally original interpretations of the contributing artists. As such, the exhibited collection brings a double layer of creativity; original objects are transformed through their use as subject. This juxtaposition provides a fresh and unique opportunity for visitors to engage with pots and paintings, understanding the distinctiveness of object and subject and bringing the stillness of the pots to life in the work of the artists.
