Join us for a talk by Clive Stewart-Lockhart, Betty Joels great-nephew, who knew her well in the closing years of her life. On leaving school he studied for a year on the Sothebys Works of Art Course in 1974 and he is now working as an independent art advisor. Clive was a specialist on the BBC Antiques Roadshow for twenty-five years and has been a lecturer with the Arts Society for the last ten years. This talk and book is the result of many years of research and Clive hopes that Betty will be recognised again as the leading furniture maker and designer of the inter-war years in Britain.Books: "Betty Joel; Furniture Maker, Designer and Businesswoman in 1920's and 30's Britain" by Clive Stewart-Lockhart (2025) will be available to purchase on the day (cash or card).Timings: 1.45pm - doors open 2pm talk starts (approximately 1 hour) Followed by Q&A and book signing Event finishes 3.30/4 pmTickets: 10 per person to include tea/coffee after the talk
