About River Esk Connect - Whitby Activity Day - Whitby Mission & Seafarers Centre

The River Esk meanders through the Northern half of the North York Moors, flowing into the sea at Whitby. Join us for the official launch of the River Esk Connect project. We're celebrating the local river, estuary and sea with a day of free stalls, activities and guided walks in the centre of Whitby.

11:00 am - Beach clean with Whitby Beach Sweep
11:30 am - Accessible wildlife walk with Whitby DAG
1:00 pm - West Cliff orchid walk with Whitby Naturalists
1:30 pm Hidden habitats with Groundwork NE & Cumbria
11:15 am & 1:15 pm - Story Corner Tales of the Esk with Bidi Iredale
All day - Creative activity zone: microscopes, Lego and clay activities
All day - Marine Discovery Centre tours with the Lobster Hatchery

Many more stalls including Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Yorkshire Marine Nature Partnership, Whitby Esk Energy, Community Earth Project, Yorkshire Seal Group and the Environment Agency

The River Esk Connect (REConnect) project is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund. It seeks to reconnect people with the beauty of the River Esk and its surrounding landscape over the next 5 years.
