About Harrogate Symphony Orchestra Summer Concert - The Royal Hall

The concert will be a joyous celebration of "Music from around the British Isles" featuring international violinist Fenella Humphreys playing Max Bruch's "Scottish Fantasy" based on Scottish folk tunes. The orchestra will also be joined by Carluke Primose Orchestral Flutes from Lanarkshire. This is a group made up entirely of flutes of all sizes from the piccolo to a seven feet tall double contrabass flute. They will play some of their own pieces but will also join HSO in playing well-known tunes such as "Danny Boy", Amazing Grace" and "Auld Lang Syne". Programme also includes music by Sir Arthur Bliss from the film:Things to Come", based on the science-fiction book by H.G.Wells. This music is part of HSO contribution to celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bliss's death
