About Throw & Turn Ceramics - Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens

We are very excited to have a new artist; Terri Donockley, from Throw & Turn Ceramics coming to exhibit her vases in the tearoom. They will be in the tearoom throughout the summer and are the perfect vessel to show off your home grown cut flowers!

Terri is based in North Yorkshire and creates both traditional and contemporary handmade ceramics for the home and garden. Stoneware clay is used to make these thrown and hand-built ceramic vases, some vases are thrown on the wheel, then carved into, whilst hand-built vases have different types of foliage rolled into clay slabs at first, before they are cut and assembled. A selection of glazes and underglazes are used to enhance decoration.

All work is slightly different, even when trying to replicate some pieces there will always be slight variation in size, shape and colour because of the handmade process. This is the beauty of any work made by hand – every piece will always be unique.

The art exhibitions are located in the tea room and are open to the public during regular garden opening times, please check our website for details.

Admission to the tea room and art exhibitions are free.

The works of art are available to purchase, please ask at the entrance hut.
