About Maisie Adam - Franks Fund Comedy Gala - Harrogate Theatre
Maisie’s anecdotal material and witty charm have quickly won her praise across the country, having appeared on Live At The Apollo, A League Of Their Own, Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, QI, 8 Out of 10 Cats, the Royal Variety Performance and - later this year - she will appear on the latest season of Taskmaster.
Maisie is proud to be Patron of Frank’s Fund. She has hosted every Frank’s Fund Comedy Gala, and she ran the London Marathon in 2024 alongside Frank’s sister, raising more vital funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
Scott Bennett is a stand-up comedian and writer whose star is most definitely on the rise. His last two shows Leap Year and Relax were nominated for ‘Best Show’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival, and in 2022 he was nominated as Best Club Comedian in the Chortle awards. He has appeared on Live At The Apollo, and in 2023 he supported Mickey Flanagan on tour including a 10,000 seat arena show in Nottingham.
Pierre Novellie is a stand-up comedian, writer, radio host and podcaster. He is co-host of The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio, as well as the hit podcast Budpod with Phil Wang. His recent TV appearances include World’s Most Dangerous Roads (Dave), The Mash Report (BBC2), and Stand Up Central (Comedy Central). One of the UK’s most acclaimed live acts, Pierre‘s latest show Why Can’t I Just Enjoy Things? saw a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and was his third show to have been placed in the top 20 best-reviewed comedy shows across the entire festival.
Jen Brister is a critically acclaimed stand up comedian and writer who has been seen on BBC’s Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Hypothetical and Sara Pascoe’s Comedy Lectures on Dave. She is a regular performer on the UK and international comedy circuits and has written and performed on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show and presented for BBC 6 Music.
Frank’s Fund was set up in 2019 in memory of 14-year-old Frank Ashton, who lost his life to Ewing Sarcoma, a brutal and underfunded bone cancer. Somewhere in the world, someone is diagnosed with bone cancer every 10 minutes, yet primary bone cancer receives just 2p of every £100 raised by the major UK cancer charities. Treatment is out of date and gruelling, and survival rates have not improved in over 40 years.
Frank would never have wanted any child to suffer as he suffered. Driven by his strength and zest for life, Frank’s family established this special fund to help change the future for other children and young people facing Ewing Sarcoma.
