White Rose Way Walk
The White Rose Way is a long-distance trail that runs for 104 miles from Leeds city centre to Scarborough's South Bay, passing through the Howardian Hills and via Malton, Thornton le Dale and Dalby Forest.
About White Rose Way Walk
Created over a long and footsore year in 2011, this walk was lovingly crafted by experienced mountain and fell-walker and general outdoor enthusiast, Paul Brown. The starting point in Leeds City Centre could not be more convenient, situated, as it is, right outside the railway station and a short walk from the bus station.
Leeds is served by local and national connections and has reasonably priced hotels in the immediate vicinity of the start line for those walkers who have travelled a little further and wish to partake in the wonderfully varied shopping or nightlife that Leeds has to offer, before commencing the walk the next day. Unlike some other trails, there is no set distance to walk in a day.
Most walkers would take in the region of a week to complete the trail. However, walk a little or a lot. Walk it in three days or in ten. Walk it in day sections or in a series of weekends. There are pretty good transport links from most of the places through which the walk passes. The choice is yours. The on-line accommodation guide provides contact details of many guest houses and hotels either on or close to the route and has one-click internet links to their websites. The finish line, some 104 miles later, is at the beautiful South Bay, in Britain’s first seaside resort of Scarborough. You would have to go far and wide to find a walk as varied as this one. The book also contains many items of local and natural history, detailing points of interest as the walk passes them, to keep you entertained. I hope you derive as much pleasure from walking the route as I did in creating and writing it.
