About Thruscross Reservoir - Walk
This walk of 4.5 miles follows the edge of Thruscross Reservoir, the top most and newest reservoir of the Washburn Valley.Often referred to as ‘West End’ after the village it swallowed up, Thruscross is famous for the appearance of the village when water levels hit severe lows.Thruscross Reservoir has inspired the DCI Banks novel “A Dry Season” for just this reason.Sitting on the edge of the moors the reservoir has become a home for many wildlife species and its remote location means it feels more tranquil than the other Washburn Reservoirs. Basic parking and Picnic facilities are provided.
