Scarborough RNLI Station
Celebrating over 200 years as a lifeboat station, Scarborough is one of the oldest stations. Thirty five awards for gallantry have been presented. The station has also seen tragedy with 15 crew losing their lives saving others at sea.
About Scarborough RNLI Station
Founded in 1801, Scarborough is one of the oldest lifeboat stations still in operation. Its new state-of-the-art lifeboathouse opened on 27 November 2016.
The crews have received 35 awards for gallantry and today the station operates a Shannon class all-weather lifeboat and a D class inshore lifeboat. The RNLI is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland.
